Breezy, We are located just west of you (Coal Creek Canyon). Our coyote today was a pretty darn bold too. I suspect they are a little too used to getting food from people and houses.

Too bad you cannot use a pellet gun.

What about shooting them with paint ball guns?
A friend told me it hurts like crazy when you get shot with one of those paint balls.
they need a healthy dose of fear of humans.

Yep.. paint balls hurt like heck when you get shot by one...
I bet that coyote would remember it..

The paintball gun is fun to shoot ... which reminds me I need to get more air. I still need to try it with those scented bath oil balls (do they still make those?). It think the coyotes could use some freshing up

Like any negative reinforcement, paintball shooting needs to be reinforced from time to time; it justs adds to the fun

I heard them song dogs the other night off towards the river in a less-inhabited area. To me, what was scary was when one from the opposite direction -- from the city -- answered back!!
I don't think they can get into my pen, so I'm not overly worried about them, but I honestly had never heard them before!

Also a hawk has recently found us (took 'em about 2 years) but again, my pen is covered so I'm not overly worried about it.

Seems like my local predator population is expanding in # of species.

1- The initial poster did NOT lose anything--they merely spoke of their intention to kill the predator.
2- My suggestions are completely viable.
3- Compassion? Yes,and I spoke of having it for BOTH bird and predator. They DO co-exist in God's world.
4- Assistance? The poster asked for none. He/she was relating an experience.
5- Pets? If so,then shouldn't they be looked after like cats and dogs? Aren't there usually leash or fence laws?
Or,if you heard that your neighbor's cat/dog was killed by a predator wouldn't you take precautions
to protect your dog/cat?

Why do you feel such a need to suppress freedom of speech and idea sharing? Doesn't our gov do enough of that?
The adults here can certainly handle the opinions of others through rebuttal or acceptance.

The thing about coyotoes getting to close to peoples farms/residents is the fact that thay attack small children.That is plenty enough reason to rid your space of these attackers, i posted a link last month in another thread concerning coyotoes attacking children with distrubing pics..
