Can a Cracked Egg Hatch? Yes it Can, I dropped an egg about 2 weeks in, cracked the shell but membrain stayed intact, so I coved the cracks with wax, and I thought there was no way with this much wax it could Survive, but it did

Thank you!! I am afraid to remove the tape, so I will hope and pray that's good enough. It has been in the incubator all day, tape still strong. If it eventually loosens, I will definitely replace w/ wax.

I tried to candle it, but I think the shell is too thick and my light too weak. I see the other eggs just fine. [white and brown]. I think I will just watch it for 'weeping' leaking and odor and not bother it any more!

Here it is:

It's going to be a Looonnngggg 2 weeks! I'll keep you posted.

Hi, for cracked eggs pourus tape is the best as it allows the egg to breath still, I did read somewhere that a hatchery uses water soluble glue to fill the crack by applying several thin layers although I wouldn't do this myself! They also recommended tape. I did use tape for chicks I have helped hatch to stop the membrane drying and it works great! Hope this helps and good luck x

ok... still praying and thinking... tape AND wax?

after I seeing the pic, I thought...
drip wax around the edges of the tape?

I had a severely crushed egg that I taped up and hatched a normal baby 5 days later. They really do have the will to live and make it, even in the crazyiest of circumstances!Good Luck, and YES a cracked/crushed egg can make it just fine:D

If you have only a few days left, I honestly wouldnt do anything. Ive used the crayon wax before, but it was early on in incubation. Just remember, the wax is very hot so watch your fingers!

It is two weeks until day 21, so a long time yet. I needed to add water to the incubator for humidity- had the cracked egg off away from other eggs, so of course, got it wet!

Water collected under tape. Decided that would not be good, luckily it made the tape come off easily. Once dry, I dripped a little wax on it. I'm going to try leaving it alone [other than turning] I might take a pic. in the incubator for an update, otherwise, trying not to obsess.
