I think this is the right place to put this. I was wondering if any one has had any experience with a small crack of an egg while incubating. I accidentally dropped on of the eggs that I have incubating at day 11 and cracked the shell just a little. It's not a bad crack so I put a piece of tape over the spot I have candled it the past 2 days and the chick is still developing and moving. Like is said I was wondering if any one else has had any experience with this kind of problem and if there is something else that I could use to seal the crack until it's ready to hatch. I am keeping a close eye on it and will be keeping an even closer eye on it the closer it gets to hatch day day 19 is on May 2nd. Thank in advance for any help in this matter. I would hate to loose the little guy since it is still developing like it should.

As long as it's developing it should be fine. As long as it's alive with no smelly discharge it'll be fine. As soon as the egg starts to smell it will be time to throw it.

so far it's not leaking or anything and its still developing and moving. Like I said I put a piece of scotch tape on it and its not leaking any fluid or any thing.

This is my cracked duck egg! I put tape on it too just incase anything else seeped through. The baby developed to hatch day but sadly pipped wrong end otherwise ok. I would give it a go.

If the egg in the picture is the one that hatched then mine should have no problem hatching. You barely can even see the crack and even then you have to turn it just right so the light hits it at an angle to even see it. Good to know that if it survives till hatch day it should hatch alright. This is my very first attempt at incubating eggs and I would hate to loose one because I was clumsy. If your survived being cracked like that mine should be ok. Thanks to those who have replied so far.

My cracked egg is hatching. So far so good. He is about 3/4 way around. Im keeping a really close eye on it due to the fact the last one we had hatching got to that point and did not make it out of the shell. Like I said it was not a bad crack and I put tape on it then took it off on day 18.

So far so good. He came finished about 10 am this morning and is still moving around and peeping. It's been a little over 12 hours so I believe he will make it.
