I got eggs from Susan last year--11 of 13 hatched (only 1 pullet, though!) I kept her and a cockerel, but lost her over the winter. They're nice birds!

Quite frankly after bidding and having you guys fight I did not think I had a chance at winning! I bid last night before I went to sleep just hoping that maybe you guys would let me have it...not believing, but hoping lol...anyways, I was very happy because they are exactly what I was looking for and now I can rest for a bit! Well either rest or buy another incubator...I already have 3 though, not sure my hubby would appreciate 4 of them!

These eggs come from a pair of Snowy Nikkeis. The parents are both white, but the roo is of an undescribed mutation known as Mother-of-Pearl, while the female may be recessive white- it is unknown. The two pure white birds have offspring of many different colors, including a blue and gold, black, birchen, copper-necked, etc. This is not a standardized breed at all, so much as it is a race of birds known to a specific area of South America. This pair produces about 20% white offspring, with many other colors.
The Nikkei/Mapuche Huastec is a Peruvian breed originating in the late eighteen hundreds from Japanese Jittoko, Japanese White Silky, and Crested Mapuche Founders. This breed is as unique to Peru as the Plymouth Rock is to North America. The eggs are a large white or off-white, and they lay very regularly. For the small size of the bird, the egg is huge. The males often have an extra toe, and the skin is black or slate. The comb can be single, pea, or walnut, sometimes a strawberry or cushion- very inconsistent.
There is a minor crest in these birds, as is consistent with most birds from this region. The crow is a bit of a chuckling cry.

When a bird from Mapuche stock is all white with a downy patch under its eyes and on its face (not a beard, per se) it's called a Nikkei as a nod to the Japanese ancestry way back in the history of the breed's Jittoko foundation with native South American stock.

Ladies, Ladies, there will plenty to go around! Love a good bidding war, was in one myself week before last over some lavender cochins! Had everyone on here on the edge of their seats waiting to see who won. Ended in a tie!!!

I am with you, there is nothing more fun then a bidding war! Watching or participating in, everyone wins...well at least when everyone is fun and enjoys themselves and does not get angry. I have watched some that got nasty, I am glad the people I have bid against on here, whether I won or lost, were all nice. Friendly competition=good, pissy sore loser=bad! LOL I look forward to when I have more space in my incubator again!
