Need to up the amount of Quail eggs to maybe 12. That might help.

That's fine. Are they hard to raise and do you have to seperate them from other poultry in a large run. My dad raised Quail years ago for hunting.

Button quail should be kept indoors when it is cold outside. I wouldn't keep them with chickens. Many people keep them in aviaries with other 'flighted' birds, or with other pet birds. They are very good at cleaning up dropped food that other birds would leave behind! Buttons can fly, but are normally ground dwellers unless they are spooked. These guys are only about as big as a parakeet/budgie when full grown. The coturnix would be better for eating/hunting.
