I have two Copper Maran hens I have been trying to introduce to my flock who were previously housed with a Maran rooster. I placed both girls in with my two Buff Orps hens and a Buff/Bared Rooster and they terrorized my Buffs. My Roo tried to calm things down and show them he was the boss, but they still acted up. I left both in for a day and finally decided I should move the meanest one out. This helped, but the one I left in is still a terror, she chases the Buffs and the roo keeps going after her. No one is getting hurt, but no one is happy. The roo tries to run her in at night, but the Copper Maran hen is sleeping on the ground in the run area. She can hear the roo she used to be with, but can see him. Will it get better or do you think there is too much difference between a Maran and the buffs? The buff orps are so gentle I can see them easily getting overun, and my Roo is a very gentle roo. I have to get him somemore girls as he is overmating the two Buffs, I have some chicks, but it will be a few months till the are ready to move in.
Any advice? Are French Black Copper Marans aggressive? I have had these girls about three months and they are fine together, just not with other chickens.
