We live on 4acres of old farm land...farm fields on 3 sides and a housing development on 1 side. One of our neighbors in the development also has chickens on their small postage size stamp yard. We're friendly with them, their son comes over to play with our kids, we've let them throw tree limbs in our burn pile, etc. This week my kids come running in screaming the neighbor's rooster is dead in our trees over by their fence & sure enough it is so my husband went over and knocked on their door to let them know and they said they killed it because it was attacking their 5year old (ok) and didn't think we'd mind if they just tossed it over the fence 😳😡 Told them we actually do mind and PLEASE do not chuck dead animals on our property!! What the heck.

Wow. Not really much else you can say to that. Hopefully they reacted ok to letting them know throwing dead birds in your yard is not ok... and hopefully they don't get another rooster...
They asked what they were supposed to do with it... my husband said dig a hole or bag it up but don't chuck it over the fence please. I sure hope they don't... they said they only wanted hens and that one was supposedly sexed as a hen.

I'm still amazed that somehow just throwing it over the fence seemed like a good idea. You even live on acreage and have these issues. I bought a lot of land to get away from neighbors because it seems like no matter how nice you are- there's always someone out there who wants to chuck a dead rooster over your fence.

Hopefully they got the message.

What in the world? You don’t just kill a chicken and tossed it over a fence. First cruelty, 2nd insensitive to other neighbors. They could have gave it away or butcher them humanely or disposed them properly. I have had unwanted roosters. I gave some away, I sold some really cheap and I had butchered some and placed them in freezer camps for soup 3-6 months later.

I'm surprised you found it before something else hauled it off, to be honest... Not everyone wants to eat their roosters, and it's not unusual to cull a nasty rooster. They overstepped their boundary but you made it clear enough. Hope this doesn't ruin your relationship with them.
