As some of you know last sept I bought 6 hens at an auction house in Waynesville, NC. Well I got home and one was sneezing. I was very new at this so I did not isolate it from the others that I bought that day. Two days later I realized I had a big problem. I culled mercilessly. It broke my heart. I then was left with two beautiful brahma hens. Its been almost two months and yesterday evening I went to tuck the girls in and one was sneezing and rattling in her chest. I could have cried. My only hens.
So today I took many peoples advice on forum from what I have learned and called the agr. poultry people. We are a big producer of poutry in NC. So these people take it serious. He listened and ask questions and said he thought I might have a big problem. He is to call me back. He told me the routine for birds with disease. The gist of which is they may take all my birds if they are diseased even the little ones in my house that are not sick. Sad!!!!!! I don't want to lose my little ones esp. But if it is bad I know that is best.
I may have to start over next spring. Has anyone else gone through this. Jean
