Hi all. We've had chickens now for a couple of years and its time to take it to the next level.
There's so much info on sexing day old chicks and lets just say I'm a little confused so i will try and keep it simple for my sake.
Cream legbar hens crossed with a Buff orpington cock (Henry)
Can the chicks be sexed early and how?
Thanks for any info you can give me

I on the other hand say yes.. they should be sex linked by the spot on the head at hatch. All head spots are cockerels and solid head are females.

CCL are barred.. buff orp are not.

The roo is always the top half of the cross.. so BO roo over ccl dames..

How easy it is to see that head spot with that color combination.. that.. I'm not sure. May take practice.. but I'd not be so quick to dismiss the possibility.

Hopefully there will be more feedback! :pop

thanks for all your replies. Have candled the eggs and 13 good from 15 so we are not unhappy. 14 cocks and a hen knowing my luck.
