They can turn into chicks that's the only difference they are still perfect to eat
They only turn into chicks if they're incubated. If the eggs are just taken out of the nest and then plopped into an egg carton they won't hatch (Unless you leave the eggs in there for 21+ days and your egg storage area never goes below 100 degrees fahrenheit 🤣)

I know that. I was just saying they could turn into chicks. Broody hens happen

How could I forget the broodies? Even if they do, there are ways to break broody hens.
Also that message wasn't really directed at you; sorry. I was just trying to add on to your post, but ended up replying instead. My mistake.
 
Just take the eggs away from the broodies. Gather the eggs every day. Oh, some broodies don't like giving up their eggs. Mine don't seem to mind, I only had one that pecked hard. So I'd wear a glove while collecting under her, and when she saw that I was determined, she gave up pecking me.
