Cream Legbar Hybrid Thread

I've seen several references lately to "Ice Cream Bars". My understanding is, this is a cross between Legbars and Marans (or maybe Isbars and Marans?). Does anyone have more specific information?

They are called "Blue Ice Cream Bars" and are sex linked cross between Isbar x CL

Here are an Ice Cream Bar male and female:


This little guy is really pretty IMO -- not the best picture---he isn't one for holding still -- In theory he got zero barring genes from his Isbar mother -- although sometimes I think that there is some barring going on in Blue Isbars....and 1 barring gene from his Cream Legbar Father.

This barely noticeable crest is the result of one cresting gene....it is very sparse but very definitely a little crest.

Not flattering of her -- because she wasn't standing still either....- she definitely got a barring gene from her father

So - just what you would expect..... isn't it. :O)

Apparently some people are calling CL and Marans crosses Ice Cream Bars. That makes things confusing when you're trying to sort out information.

My understanding is that Ice Cream Bars are the cross of Isbars and Cream Legbars --- There was a plan to then cross to Cream Legbars again to obtain autosexing. :O)

I have both blue and splash isbar males over cream legbar females. Would they still be considered blue ice cream bars? Thanks in advance...and thanks for the info on genetics

I have a CL hybrid that i really like. Hen she is cross of Cream Crested Legbar Roo and Black Old English Game Hen!!!
She is only 7months old lays small light blue eggs...





She is really cool im keeping her.

only the blue ones, the black ones will be just Ice Cream Bars

I don't know, but I googled "Ice Cream Bar" olive eggers, and a number of results came up for that combination.

You could use ice cream bars x dark brown layers to produce ice cream bar olive eggers. The ice cream bars are blue/blue for egg color.
I have Isbars and Marans in the pen with CL. The chicks hatched from that pen will be either ice cream bars or F1 olive eggers....
