My girls are now 23 weeks old. They have been scratching in the nest box recently so Im hoping eggs are around the corner.

Thanks everyone! I love the color pattern also. I think they are quite striking. Im excited to see egg color, Im expecting green but I hope its a different shade than my other green layers.

Do you have a male silver laced to breed back to. Ive always said i liked these , but if u breed back you should get completelacing. If you got the same looking females but those salmon chest feathers laced fully with black would be so awesome. Id be begging* for some f2 hatching eggs. I'd still like some even if you only do your original cross.

No I don't have a male Silver Laced . So I wouldn't be able to cross them back. It would be a great plan though because like you said it would complete the lacing making it an all around nicer looking bird. Unfortunately I have no more room for extra roosters so F1s they shall remain.

Quote:
if he crosses back to Silver Laced Brahmas only 50% of the total females(around 12 birds if he hatches about 50 hatching eggs) will be e+/eb showing salmon breast the rest of the birds will be eb/eb females and eb/b males and e+/eb males(would not be able to tell the difference between eb/eb males).. so if you get only 10 hatching eggs from the back cross to Silver Laced you would expect 2 e+/eb females....

Yeah, thats the part of selecting them and the process thats a pain to get them to breed true. These were silver laced cochin crosses. Hes a she i believe, or am i wrong
