Cream Legbar Hybrid Thread

Quote: Thanks as usual! So I got it messed up? I thought she told me girls have darker legs?

Also is she correct with the white large dot on the head is male just like the ccl chicks? I pray it isnt so, because most of the chicks I hatched yesterday for a friend have dots but it would make sense <ughhhhhh>

I wasnt sure to tell her to breed her hens back with the ccl or not. She is in love with this guy so I think he wont end up on the table any time soon lol.
I will tell her to sign up on here.

I ran down to take pics of yesterday and last nights/morning hatch (sorry they are still a tad wet!)
pics are of the BR and light brahma mixes and I do have a few pures in there, but only one female out of the bunch

These are the CCL mix (the light brahma mix simply looks like a mutt, no specific coloring or anything)

only one female on the other side thats pure.... she is still drying.

note legs on left?

same birds left is dark legs so if the spot tells males she is correct with the legs on these mutts.

light brahma x ccl

Also, How is gender determined for chickens, If I keep getting so many male chicks should I replace my existing roosters, the hens are not going anywhere but I do have more different lines growing out. This is frustrating!

Sally I don't think that the white head dot ones are all boys. I believe even though your rooster is a white sport he still carries the barring gene so him and a barred rock will not make a typical sexlink, at least I don't think. All your chicks will be barred.

Due to the barred rock being silver based they may still be sexlink but not by the head spot. The leg color might be the way to go. I find that on my sexlinks of any cross that the females always have darker legs.

here are a few examples

male on left female on right

female legs on bottom male legs on top

here is a different sexlink cross
female on left male on right

female on left male on right

one more example this is again different sexlink cross
Male Black Sexlink
and his sisters

And I believe in chickens if the hen that determines the gender.

thank you! but then there is still only one female by leg color, all the others have light legs not a dark spot on them and those also have the big spots so even if I cannot go with head spots the legs still say they all be boys, I think perhaps the hens need a "boy" talk!

psss......My CCL x black polish eggs are remaining unfertile me thinks that Rhonda doesnt like those boys! she should have a witches name for sure!

Im very excited. I recently hatched eggs from my Green eggs laying CL hybrids. The 2 pullets were covered by a BCM rooster. When the chicks hatched they hatched in 2 separate colors, solid black and black with white head spots. They create sexlink OE chicks. The reason Im excited is because my 1st generation green egg laying CL Hybrids are sexlink and covered by the correct rooster they also created another generation of Sexlinks. I suspected it through incubation and it was confirmed at hatch. Unless Im wrong and someone has another explaination. Here are 2 of the chicks
some of my cochins crosses have come out like this. Im not sure this year if my CL roo or my wheaten game x EE bred them

Sally i cant remember who (my memory can be terrible) one of our CL breeders swears by taking the roo out for two weeks and collecting eggs while hes gone. She gets all female dominated hatches all the time. Or take the hens to a calm quiet place without a roo.
