Cream Legbars?!? Price? Information Please?

I just ordered 12+ Cream Legbar hatching eggs from California! I'm in Eastern Kentucky and noone I've talked to have even heard of a cream legbar!! I have been looking at them for a while and I love rare unique birds and I finally caved and ordered some! The only ones I could find were again in California! First I am curious at what everyone thinks about how my hatch rate is going to be? They are tested proven fertile eggs shipped fresh?!? Priority shipping (2 days)!! Also how much do these birds go for? How much would I sell the chicks an adults considering I do plan on breeding them (crossing my fingers I get a pair I don't wanna count my chickens before they hatch tho 0.0) Considering these are so rare around here wonder what would be a good asking price? Also does anyone have any information on the breed? Friendliness? Do they go broody? Care? Tips? Etc? These are what the parents look like!
Congrats on getting your first Cream Legbar eggs! This breed is great. I am also new to the breed, I have been raising them for 1 and 1/2 years now. This is my first season hatching though and it has been fun. I have selected 2 new breeder roosters to replace my old CL rooster and have a few new cream colored pullets I will also ad to my flock.

The pics you posted of the parent stock are nice but a little too colorful for most CL breeders liking. The hen is gold color and she should be cream and the rooster has too much chestnut coloring in his crest and saddle feathers. I do like their shape though and the comb is good from what I can see and they have nice white earlobes. Over all not a bad start.

As for hatching shipped CL eggs well I personally find hatching CL eggs to be a little harder than other breeds and as for shipped CL eggs I hear people mention that they don't always get good hatch rates.

As far as pricing goes a lot has to do with the quality of your stock. Breeding them you need to try to get them as close to the proposed SOP as possible(CL are not an acceped breed yet but it is being worked on by a lot of people, they have already drawn up the 2nd SOP draft).

I suppose it depends on area but here are prices that I typically see.
Hatching eggs
6eggs/ $25 12eggs/ $45

Chicks
pullet day olds $25
cockerel day olds $10-15

then the prices go up or down from there and can be altered as your chicks grow and price accordingly to the quality of the chicken.

CL that grow up and do not have qualities that you want in your flock or are something you would not consider breeder quality you can sell as blue egg layers, mixed breeds, or Easter Eggers at a regular egg layer price. Some rehome cockerels that aren't good quality as the same, mixed breed roosters or EE for little cost or free. Doing this eliminates the possibility that other people will breed these CL just because they are Cream Legbar.

There are many Cream Legbar threads on BYC you should come over and join one or 2. There is always lots of info and so many things to learn and pictures of CL are always being posted. We are all very friendly people who want to help out as we love this breed.

Oh great thank you so much I defiantly will head on over an join right now!! I love this website! I'm seriously just as addicted to it as I am Facebook! I appreciate you taking the time to write all that! I know nothing about the breed I just got my first chicks in April and I've went from 4 to 140 in what almost 3 months? I have 19 breeds! 0.0 I'm gonna hafta down size a little my husband is finishing my big coop right now! I just thought they were beautiful birds I didn't even think to compare them I just believed the seller and bid on them and found out I won them! I'm not gonna lie I was really excited to order these but lesson learned next time ill defiantly check the breed standard before buying a new breed! I would loveee to get a really good hatch rate out of these 12+ eggs but I don't even care if they all hatch I just am hoping to get a rooster and hen out of the batch! I also ordered malay eggs off the Internet and am incubating them now! Turns out out of 7 eggs I have only 3 fertile viable eggs growing ;-( Its untelling what will hatch out of those 3 ;-( I wanna cry I paid a fortune for them!
