Congrats on getting your first Cream Legbar eggs! This breed is great. I am also new to the breed, I have been raising them for 1 and 1/2 years now. This is my first season hatching though and it has been fun. I have selected 2 new breeder roosters to replace my old CL rooster and have a few new cream colored pullets I will also ad to my flock.
The pics you posted of the parent stock are nice but a little too colorful for most CL breeders liking. The hen is gold color and she should be cream and the rooster has too much chestnut coloring in his crest and saddle feathers. I do like their shape though and the comb is good from what I can see and they have nice white earlobes. Over all not a bad start.
As for hatching shipped CL eggs well I personally find hatching CL eggs to be a little harder than other breeds and as for shipped CL eggs I hear people mention that they don't always get good hatch rates.
As far as pricing goes a lot has to do with the quality of your stock. Breeding them you need to try to get them as close to the proposed SOP as possible(CL are not an acceped breed yet but it is being worked on by a lot of people, they have already drawn up the 2nd SOP draft).
I suppose it depends on area but here are prices that I typically see.
Hatching eggs
6eggs/ $25 12eggs/ $45
Chicks
pullet day olds $25
cockerel day olds $10-15
then the prices go up or down from there and can be altered as your chicks grow and price accordingly to the quality of the chicken.
CL that grow up and do not have qualities that you want in your flock or are something you would not consider breeder quality you can sell as blue egg layers, mixed breeds, or Easter Eggers at a regular egg layer price. Some rehome cockerels that aren't good quality as the same, mixed breed roosters or EE for little cost or free. Doing this eliminates the possibility that other people will breed these CL just because they are Cream Legbar.
There are many Cream Legbar threads on BYC you should come over and join one or 2. There is always lots of info and so many things to learn and pictures of CL are always being posted. We are all very friendly people who want to help out as we love this breed.
