Cream Legbars

Ooo and what do you think of that barring on the dark chick? It's so crisp! But we have to see the cream when he gets his big boy feathers.

It is hard to see the barring the way he is held, but it looks good. Lets hope he keeps it when the big boy feathers come in. The only things I could see that would get you nicked is the comb and ear lobes but he is young and those could straighten out.

I like the crest that is my concern with Andy is his crest is so small you have to look hard to see it.

I am watching mine change daily, they change so much and many of mine are older than yours. I have started adding yellow bands to the legs of the those destined to be soup. Any defect can get you a band, in addition to a behavior I do not like.

I placed both of my Baker cockerels. The regular comb one had a crest that rivaled the older pullets and his comb was as squiggly as Ribbon Christmas candy! But a super sweet bird with GREAT color. I hope he turns out to be a fine Roo for his new owner
The Rose comb one was just too flighty for what I want. Nice color, nice crest but not what I want to breed from personality wise. He went to a local lady and I hope he works for her

I have my 12 week old Roo still. He has fuzzy barring but I like his color otherwise so far. His crest is pretty fluffy and his comb veers to the left and he is a teenage jerk but.. I also have a 2 week old Cockerel From Texas (Whisperun) and am waiting to see how he turns out. Right now he is not very tame

Its a good thing as many (or more it seems sometimes) roosters hatch as hens, considering how many we go through trying to get the perfect rooster. ( and again for the perfect backup rooster).

More pics ralphie, please! I showed mine, I wanna see yours!

I got a picture of Andy protecting the stock tank the open bag of scratch was hidden in.

And if you look hard in the picture below you will see some day old CLB's. Of course, you have to pick them out of the mob. I got two more white sports this hatch! I am up to 6 still alive sports! I am going to be hatching for them for a couple months yet.

May I ask which is prefered on a roo?

What are you referring to? I see problems with both those roosters. The first is hard to see, but the comb is screwed up, the second has the sharpest angle known to mankind on a rooster tail. The body is way short. He only has 5 points on his comb, and the barring is blurred.

The markings more than the obvious DQ.I need to start with what color is more desirable. Then move through the DQs. I have to girls from the Crele roo. One has a kinky comb the other does not. Finding a male in AK is tough with 2 breeders here. One place has a mess of males they are growing out. Hopefully after they take thier pick.

If you are just going by color, the first one probably has better color. But they both have white tail feathers too. Color wise, I think cream is the goal, not silver, but some go for the silver look too. It's really hard to judge color when the pictures aren't very great.

I prefer the cream also. Sorry about the pictures.
