If you want to try and preserve the genetics from the group you lost I would totally hatch the pullet eggs!

I would hatch rather than lose the genetics.Steen - I hear your concern - I lost most of my older cream legbars to a coyote attack a few days ago, I have only one survivor with cream hackles and a beautiful blue egg. My cockerel took a beating, he's off to the vet today because I can't decide if he's doing better or worse. I have some pullet eggs I could hatch from this group, but I was planning to wait until the fall so the parents would be about a year old. Any thoughts on whether to hatch or not?

I know I am so happy with how she is growing, looks like she is going to be a great example of a British legbarI love the colors and pattern in Percy's crest.
I think I would call them more on the gold side. They are about 7 weeks old. Agatha (A line) has more black coloration and is still a little chick-fluffy down on her neck, Beatrix (B line) is starting to get a little pink in her comb already. The little whipper-snappers are fast like little road runners and I am having a hard time getting them to stay still for pictures:
Beatrix is on the left and Agatha is on the right. Again, she appears lighter but its just because the light chick down on the tips of her juvenile feathers catching the light.
So sorry about your coyote attackwhat a nightmare especially after all of your hard work on your flock.![]()
Percy is getting bigger all the time
10 weeks old now and still my favourite![]()
She is friendly as well, every time I open up there coop she jumps onto my lap for her cuddles, she is the friendliest out of my now 9 chickens, her sister is dark and gold and very flighty, she only comes to me for food
I totally agree sol2go, hatch those eggs out while you can!
I am about ready to throw in the hatching towel this year on Cream Legbars. ANOTHER male heavy hatch, 10 males 4 reg females 1 white female. Of the eggs that almost made it, 2 were female and 3 were male. YIKES!! Even Stinky can't keep up with the amount of males I'm hatching. I sold 32 males of various breeds to a guy last week who is going to grow them out and eat them, and this batch I am putting down all but 3 males. Man I hate culling perfectly healthy chicks. This makes 4 or 5 hatches in a row that I've had VERY heavy male hatches.
