Cream Legbars

I think it is female. I had a chick born Saturday that I was confused about because of the chipmunk stripe...but it was not as defined as yours.

Is this a roo? This chick was sold to me as a Cream Legbar pullet at 8 days old. It is almost 5 weeks, and I noticed red wattles today. I'll post a pic of it at 8 days old too. Can you still auto sex them at that point?

I am still learning but looking at this picture I see salmon coming out on the chest. I still think it is a female.

It's the top chick in this picture:

I agree that the plumage pattern is female- the V on top the head with just the faintest white instead of a big light 'blotch' like someone dripped a drop of paint - and the chipmunk stripes - if the wings were moved to the side they would be VERY visible-- all say 'girl' to me.
congrats on the nice chick(s). :O0

I would like to know if the Cream Legbar is descended from the variety of Araucana with a crest and a tail. I can't remember if I read about this or not.........
Mr. Frank Decmar created a wonderful egg chart for the British Araucana Club. In the UK - the Araucanas are rumped and rumpless - crested, uncrested and tufted -- and lay eggs in the colors that boarder the chart. Images of the various versions are in the center...
:O)

It's the BAC color chart for British Araucana Club.

Hat's off to Mr Decmar.

Aloha kākou,

I was just looking at a picture of an Australian Araucana, which is the same as British Araucanas(?), and it had a crested head(and a tail). The cream legbar has a crested head and Punnet and Pease were British, so when they say the cream legbar descends from the araucana, theyʻre talking about the British style Araucana and not the American Araucana. Is that correct?

Thanks, Puhi
