Cream Legbars

Since we moved in July we only started hatching then so we are behind in setting up pens etc. But does anyone here live near/close to Florida and is attending the Inverness show? We want to show some Legbars but would like to have others along with our own there. :)

His back appears to be gently sloped and reasonably long. His tail is higher set than I like, but better than his sire. His breeder said the father had one gene for cream, so maybe that will keep his chestnut under control? Crossing fingers for this.

have you posted pictures recently?
I would be surprised if one gene for cream could control the chestnut.
Even better if he doesn't have a lot of chestnut to begin with, I believe.

How far did you move and how did your move impact your poultry pens? Did you have to downsize or have problems adjusting them to a new environment (i.e. bacteria or other issues)?

I have read and reread all of the posts about melanizers, genes for creams, recessive this and that, and I will be honest, I can't follow all of that.....ig/eg and bb/br stuff, gives me a migraine. I do understand barring genes, blue egg genes and autosexing genes. So, I guess what I am saying is I need all the help under standing this stuff you guys can give me!

From Tennessee to central Florida. The main thing we have struggled with in Florida is Fowl Pox - had to vaccinate every bird almost immediately because it's so prevalent here. The weather isn't any worse heat wise than Tennessee but the winters are better. Before we moved we sold everything that wasn't a 'necessity' for breeding which meant growing nothing out earlier in the year. Moving was tough but everyone got through it. :)

That sounds like a big undertaking with considerable planning - and restraint!
Glad to hear it has been manageable.

From the breeds you raise, it looks like you are a fan of blue eggs =)

Aloha,

I was telling Chickat about some lacing action going on in some of my girls and I was wondering if that is really bad or not, especially when it comes to autosexing. The kept moving and my battery died but this is what I got today:
Thanks for any comments.
