Cream Legbars

Here are some pictures of most of the chicks. There are still a few slow ones left out of the picture. I've noyiced significantly less color variation simply by only keeping my best rooster in the pen with the ladies. There's a second rooster I like who will be my back up. The last 2 are looking for new homes. Lol!

I should mention that I culled the two roos that were the lightest color and that helped a lot!

Thank you! I have spring fever now. It's official. I just set another batch of eggs. Ha ha ha!

Congrats on the cute babies! They all seem to be in the "typical" down color range, that is good. I hope you post more pics when you get a chance.

And I hear ya on Sping fever lol Im I have been tempted to set another CL batch also but we will see. I want to wait out my current hatch to see how many I have to work with and then possibly set more.

My hatch is still progressing, so far 13 chicks are out and I see I think 2 starting to zip and 2 more pips still many eggs not doing too much. I hope some hatch over night tonight.

On another note, one of my Jill Rees line chicks hatched yellow, Im wondering if I have some recessive white going on in that trio. I have yet to have a recessive white chick hatch so I have no experience with that and I cant be sure, it might just be really blonde. I will take pics of it once I get it out of the incubator.

I think it really helped that I culled the roosters that were so light in color. I only kept the darker gray ones with cream. I really wish I could get good pictures of them. At the same time, who knows. I could always end up with wonky colors in the next batch. Lol So, we will see.

Congratulations on the chicks! I didn't get any yellow ones and I have a bigger flock of them (11 females with my main male and I'm considering putting half in one pen with one rooster and half in another pen with another rooster I like). I wonder if it is truly yellow or if you have some of the lighter genetics going on. Please keep us posted when you hatch more!
