Cream Legbars

Been a while since i posted pics of my birds. I only have these 2 left fom selling off everything else to work on only Black Copper Marans. These i got from GFF Rees line last year. They are 1 year old. Im going to keep one going forward this fall along with my single Splash Marans.

My favored Rees hen.

And the 2nd girl i have. She's more skittish. They both are more standoff than my Marans.
They look nice! I like the gray tone and you can see some barring. They have great earlobes, especially on hen num 2.

Finally some pictures of the two Roos which hatched, I already posted the two pullets. These will go to someone else. They were hatching eggs from @chickat 's flock. 4 of 6 eggs hatched.

These sweet sleepy heads were not cooperating well for a picture but you can clearly see the spots on their heads and they are just beautiful. Will be hard to part after 2 months!

Here are pictures:

I just want to warn you that this post will contain a lot of pictures. So, it may take a long time to load for some of you. Sorry that I've been away so long. I've been working full time, doing two therapy trainings with the State of Michigan for work, finished a stressful semester of school, and have been looking for a house. At the beginning of the year, I had a couple of Legbar chicks that were hard to sex. It was suggested that I take photos of them as they grow. Here's what I have found: both chicks were female. I've found that eye-liner was an accurate way to sex these two difficult to sex chicks. If relying on eye-liner alone, I would have said female, but the tops of their heads confused me.

This youngster is still too colorful, but his hackles are less colorful than Sunny's He has a smaller Comb, a bigger crest, and although it doesn't show up in this picture has yellower legs. Nearly perfect ear lobes. He needs to fill out a bit. Like Sunny his tail is too high. That is what I see... What do you all think. Remember I am a beginner at picking out the parts of a bird instead of looking at them as a whole. You can't hurt my feelings... :) Regardless if you think it is desirable, is his chestnut acceptable?

Here is Sunny for a reminder of my current rooster.

Do you have a few more pics of the juvenile you could post, from different angles front, top, side, and at least one full body shot of him standing relaxed, not walking and in his normal upright position. How old is he?

@tdhenson86 those are lovely chicks and great pics you included. You are right that they seemed quite hard to sex. If they were my chicks I likely would have pegged chick one as a female (with a little uncertainty) but chick 2 didn't seem to show the V for the female which is odd so If it were my chick I might have pegged it for a male though it was lacking the head spot (I might have even questioned if it was a mix).

What is you plan as far as using these chicks?

Just a reminder for everyone, It is advised not to breed forward any chicks that don't show good examples of reliable auto sexing down.

It will be interesting to see how your guy grows out. One thing I see in this photo of Sunny is that he has a nice long definite back. Some of mine -- it seems like the neck hackles meet the tail their back seems so short. Same with your juvenile -- I love the long back!!
