I actually haven't posted on the BCM thread yet, lol... I run totally off mobile so it's difficult posting pics... I've been lurking on all the threads for my breeds though... and trying to clean up the stock I have a bit before really getting out there... I don't even sell hatching eggs yet, just helped out a few people (like ross) who got mix ups or outright lied to about purebreds... and a few swaps, lol...

As for other breeds I have-

Wheaten Sulmtalers + GDW roo
Lav & Black Split Am's
BCM's (black and blue)
Araucanas - lf & bantam
OEGB's
Silkies
Ohiki
And a project Lav Orp over black Australorp pen
Oh, and Call ducks

I just started hatching a couple Olive Eggers, they're actually my BCM over the EE my OH wanted to keep... so don't know yet what they'll come out as... she already lays an almost Olivey egg so decided to try it, lol...

I finally see that is probably a lav. Am. in your avatar…and I had to look up Ohiki, that was fun.
In your project pen are you trying for the Orpington body type or the Australorp?
Thanks for the note.

@sol2go gonna see if I can get the pics I have to post, lol...

These were taken just as they started molting... and yes, they have severe sun damage to their color...
hmm.png

He did molt that awful white tail feather out...

This hen is who the 3 chicks I showed pic of earlier came from...

And this is what the girls looked like right at POL...
We are lucky to have grassy chicken runs in the spring time around here, it never lasts all year…such a different landscape.
Why do you say your rooster has sun damage to his color?
Your nesting hen has nice wide tail feathers. Would you say she looks gold?
Her pullet offspring all look cream from these pics, and have nice variations on the crest colors. It's nice to see the dark color stay in the crest and not go down into the hackles, like mine tend to. It really makes the crest stand out.
In the first of the pullet pics, would you say the pullet with a dark crest also has a darker shade to her body color as well? Or is that just an illusion because the pullets are standing in a different orientation?

I picked up some BCM earlier this year with the idea to just darken my existing light olive eggers to increase the colors in the egg basket, and also to have some dark brown eggs in the basket as well.. But now that I'm expanding into CL (as you know) I might do a CL-BCM line of olive eggers since the olive eggers are trendy and I know I could sell the chicks locally to help cover some feed cost...

It's all up on the air right now, going to have to see how ambitious I am come spring/summer...
I also like that mix and all the egg colors.
Olive eggers have generally been popular out here too.

This is part of why it's so hard on mobile, lol... the pullet pics are the same ones as the hens in first 3 pics with the roo... the 'gold', and yes I'm thinking she is, is from a different source than the roo and rest of the hens... the gold hen is the one the 3 chicks I posted are from... all the hens and roo are sun damaged as the hens are faded severely and his hackles and saddle look more gold than they really are... sun damage in hackle and saddle causes a 'brassiness' on top of the color... my Lav Orp had it bad, but it is really noticable that it is sun damage as new feathers come in from molting... yes, the darker crested one also has darker body to match...

We have huge runs, so we keep grass for most of the year, luckily... and the Orp/Aussie project I haven't decided yet, lol... ended up getting a single Lav Orp in a group of chicks and it turned out to be a roo my OH loves, so still figuring out what I'm doing there... think I want to go Aussie body, if I can though...
