Cream Legbars

Anyone looking to sell hatching eggs. Wanting to start a small flock. Would appreciate pics, as I am looking for a color pattern of the rooster.
Welcome to BYC - how great that your first post is in the Cream Legbar thread!

There will probably be more and more eggs available as the season advances...lots of folks have pullets that are maturing and hens that are just beginning to lay.

Have you checked the website of Greenfire Farms? They have a lot of information about Cream Legbars on their site.

I believe that My Pet Chicken advertises Cream Legbar eggs -- . It's possible that there is a waiting list --

You aren't alone, Several people would like to see a selection of roosters that we have here in the states...so stay tuned, or better yet - join the Cream Legbar Club -- the club is trying to support and promote the breed, as well as educate ourselves about the breed and at the same time fit in some activities just for fun.

Here are links:

X4 - Where did the coral get their Legbars? These have great color and their shape is pretty good too.

I am not sure but I think they are second gen from gff. I know she hatched out a bunch and the parents to these (my new quad) were her picks for breeding stock last year. The parent rooster needs some color and tail work, but his sons at least tail wise seem fine. Her hens are nice cream hackled. I can tell by comparing them to my other two pullets from Jordan Farm which are definitely gold in the hackles. I can TOTALLY tell which one was Hattie's mom! Can't wait to hatch some more from her! REALLY will get some pictures in the next few days to share of them!

LOL! By the wink after your question I thought you were pulling my leg.... haha so much is lost through the internet...

Yes, I recently acquired a new quad of Cream Legbars, they are the parent stock to my two pairs from Poco Pollo (Coral) she lives about 1 1/2 hours away from me. Gave her the club info and she wants to join soon, as she hopes to get back into the breed within a year or two.

Does anyone know where MyPetChicken obtained their breeding stock for Cream Legbars?

No, they look like line A and B from Greenfire if the pictures are their own birds. BUT...if you're in TX you're in luck! Did you know that TX has the largest group of members in the Cream Legbar Club? I'd bet there are eggs or chicks within driving distance of where you are

Yep...My breeder hen from my 2nd flock started laying the middle of December. The breeding hen from my 1st flock hasn't started laying yet but two of the pullets in that flock started laying nice sized pullet eggs this week so in the next month I am guessing that the availability of Harching eggs with explode.

Questions for you, and everyone:

1. How long do you wait before beginning to hatch pullet eggs? Do you go by egg size, a set amount of time, or a certain number of eggs? I need to get to a science library to see if there's any research on this.

2. What's the longest number of days you collect eggs before incubating them? I know there's research on length of waiting time vs. viability and will be looking for that as well.

3. Is it wise to hatch very small batches of chicks a week (or so) apart? I.e. if you had one hen and collected, say, 3 or 4 eggs over the course of a week. Would you wait for more eggs or just go ahead and set them?

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts and experiences. :)
