Cream Legbars

Walter is a beautiful bird! We could nitpick the details, but his coloring is gorgeous.
His baby pics look just like Blue did

Did he come from Burton Farms?

I bought him from a woman in NC who got his parents from GFF.
I can't wait to get more ladies for him!!

Thought I'd post a pic. This is Macduff. He looks a little irritated with me but I love this picture. Since I culled the other 2 boys he's really enjoyed being the Alpha. My other boy Macbeth is such a sweet boy you should have seen him sitting on the testers lap just loving all the attention. Macbeth is lighter in color than Macduff but his comb is much smaller and I think it's because he is low man on the totem pole. I'll have to see if I can get pics of him. Gonna try and separate the two boys later in the spring. This was just before my NPIP retest when I switched the birds around in the coops. It seems my big coop is sinking in one corner so I put the Marans in there. I'll have to use my husband huge jack to raise it up once the snow melts but man is it muddy and mucky out there. That big coop is giving me so much trouble but I knew I was putting it on loose soil so partially my fault.

Hmm, a smaller comb might be better in cold areas -- does the SOP designate the size of the comb? I'll have to look that up . . .
Macduff is beautiful and yes, he does look a little irritated! ;-)

I think it states a large comb. This is Macbeth for comparison. Excuse the dirty beak - They were enjoying some scratch in the disastrously muddy pen.

I am hoping his will grow a bit but stay on the smaller side and then see if I can breed for that. I have no idea. He is just a more timid rooster. I've not had one with this lack of agression. He's a real baby and I think that's my fault as I did baby him as a chick when he hatched in the turner when I missed day 18 lockdown.

blackbirds13 - beautiful roosters. great color on McBeth and nice overall guy on Macduff He looks very substantial too. Nice tail angle. Thanks for posting.

Interesting theory about place in the pecking order may affect development. I wonder if anyone has ever done any research on this. Since I single-thread and only have one rooster at a time (mostly -- unless one is confined totally by himself and in the process of transitioning out)-- they really are always the 'alpha' in the sense that there is no competition for them and they have to step up -- which they have done... The CLs have been exemplary in taking care of the hens and being protective....finding treats for the hens...etc. The one here now -- waits outside while the girl lays her egg -- clucks to encourage her...Yesterday I thought he was joining in the egg song..... (can a rooster sing the egg song? is he a bit confused as to his gender?)--- I'll bet that no one ever did a study on this... it is a bit idiosyncratic --

Looking at your guys again -- they look like they have nice long backs....mine either have short backs or their hackles are so thick they meet up with their saddle feathers -- and they look kind of puffy... I will have to dig up a pict.

Soooo do you think it is a match for oac151? Convenient it was in the corner.

I would call the egg a little lighter than oac 151. Good tone match though.

YES roosters absolutely sing egg song. Some of mine sing better than the hens! LOL
