Quote: It was the same weekend as the Troy Swap, which I had been planning for the last six months, so I didn't get to go. I really wish they would make them on different weekends, but they are always the same time, so if I am a vendor at Troy (35 minutes from Greenville) then I can't go. I did have a lot of inquiries on the Legbars at Troy, though, and maybe we will have a booth there in September.
I am meeting RobNorman tomorrow with a new line pullet and 2 younger pullets from crazypetlady's Legbars. He has some Black Bresse for me.![]()
.How did you get them to sit for the picture?
Mine come running to the edge of the coop whenever they see me begging for treats. Hard to get good pictures that way.
Steen, I'm awestruck. Your coop is all so clean and beautiful, and how did you get your chickens to pose so perfectly?
Thanks so much. They were of their choosing. i can tell when they are unhappy and i will figure it out and make sure something changes. the blue egg is real. Although they are not consistently that blue i believe that was the best one I've gotten. I have had them come out green before too. From week to week they can come out a different shade. I've had those nice bright blues and I've had pure green from the same hen, they also throw those neon looking blue and the blue with green tint. The egg color has been a mystery to me, i guess its due to the diet but i didn't think they could change so much from week to week.I have to admit, I'm having picture envy too, Steen.
Everything looks so clean and neat, the hens look like the accommodations were of their choosing, and the blue egg is fake right? =)
. I am always redesigning. I have a redesign issue that haunts me, I can always spot ways to improve. 2 days ago i just finished redesigning it again.
Lovely chicks! And I love their names. I had a rooster named Aragorn once. He turned out to be a fierce warrior though and had to go. Hope that doesn't happen to you. We haven't named the new bunch yet. Last falls chicks had twilight names. My daughter is into anime right now, so I fear we will have a bunch of Japanese names that I won't be able to say right.I received my order of Cream Legbars from Green Fire Farms this week. These chicks are SO sweet and much more calm and friendly than other breeds I have raised. Here are a few pictures. If you follow the Cream Legbar Club on Facebook, you may have already seen them.![]()
This is Aragorn, one of my two cockerels.
This is Faramir, the other cockerel. They definitely have different down colors and I am going to do my best to document how they grow out.

Rosie Cotton. This one is a pistol!
Most of the group They arrived on Thursday morning and all of them look very healthy. I am a bit concerned that about coccidosis, though. Some of their droppings have a bit of red to them, but after looking at 50 trillion poop photos on BYC I think that it is most likely shed intestinal lining. I have never had my chicks vaccinated or used medicated feed and I also have never had a a case of coccidosis. I do have some Corrid on hand, just in case. I will be keeping a sharp eye out for sure.
I am going to have to get one now. Now that I have 7 (!) Cream legbar females. I should start classifying their colors too.My Online Auction Color Chart arrived! So of course the first thing I did was see what color my CCL pullet is laying.![]()
It is oac178So in the teal range but I am happy with that!
