Cream Legbars

I opened the one that was cracked so badly and it is definitely fertile, which I knew it should be-he was young, but he knew his job. I will be putting every single egg in the bator for a couple of weeks. He had a beautiful straight comb, but he was still pretty young to say how else he would turn out. I do have a younger back-up growing out from PapaBrooder, but he is only about 3-4 months old so it will be a little while till he is big enough to do his job. His comb is a diagonal, but stands up so far.

:th

I was JUST about to write that mine haven't started laying yet either-but Sophia just came in with TWO blue eggs!!! :celebrate Unfortunately, one is cracked pretty badly. I lost my roo last week-thanks to my MFL roo who flew into his pen and killed him.

So sorry about your roo! :-(
MFL -- Mille Fleur???

Leghorn-they are beautiful, but he is a terrible bully (not human-aggressive, yet). I love the color, but the rest of the breed characteristics leave a lot to be desired.

Re: cindylee53 eggs
In retrospect the hawk getting the other hen from cindylee53 isn't as tragic (though the hen probably wouldn't agree).
My CL flock is now 100% eBay-free. Always a silver lining.

Jett, the oldest non-laying Cream Legbar pullet in existence.
What a fooler. She's been laying all along.

However, she is not resigning from the Holding Out (non layers) Club.
She is being impeached.

Handy hint of the day: do not buy eBay eggs from cindylee53.

Awe man. Good and bad news. Well that seller has been discussed as suspect before anyway. How did you figure Jett out? Do you have other white layers in the pen and that's why you didn't know?

Well yay that you have no more ebay stock!

We had a separate space for a broody and her two wee chicks who joined the flock today, so because I was irritated we put Jett in it. Brown egg.

A blessing in disguise, I think. My remaining birds are all from good, recognized breeders -- all on byc and club members. I even know the parents and/or pens they're from, and their Greenfire "vintage." :)
