I will. You might be able to get them sooner than that or chicks even. Amyable is who i got mine from she lives in greenleaf WI Their only 1 hour and 45 mins away. 

I know Amy and am going to try and get some from her in the spring too! I didn't know that's who they were from I am hoping to gather from a couple sources!! My roo was way to aggressive with the hens but I love my one hen and want more!!

i might have one too. he walks around and establish his dominance with a pecking motion to the backs of their necks. if a cpl pullets are relaxing together he comes over does that to them then lays down next to them. He also started to crow in the brooder at 5 weeks old. will see how he matures i guess. They mature so fast what seems like aggression so young might just be his lil testosterone showing up before the other babies know how to deal with it. I got 12 hatching eggs from her and ended up with two males and two females.

Everyone - Has ANYBODY seen or used that new Nutrina feed that is supposed to be for molting chickens? My coop looks like a feather pillow broke and feathers are ALL over the place. I wonder how far I would have to search to find that feed...and then how good it would actually work.

I am curious about this too. I looked at the ingredients and it has 18% protein (2% higher than their regular layer) and a mystery anti-mite ingredient that supposedly collects around their cloaca after pooping and decreases mites--some sort of DE that clings to the vent?

I will say that I has a coupon for Nutrena and the Ranch-Way 20% I normally use was out at the feed store so I bought a couple of bags. Several of my older hens lost some weight (when I checked them while treating ironically for mites--prominent keel/lighter general weight) while on this food, so I promptly went back and got the Ranch-way 20% and within about 2 weeks they had filled out and looked much better. Their egg production also picked back up again. I thought they were off because of their age...but now I am convinced it was there diet.

I think its the higher protein that is important, especially since mine free-range and eat a lot of grass. What kind of cost was the 40# bag for the Feather Fixer? Has anyone tried it?

My original mixed breed roo was a very early crower--before 6 weeks. Although a good flock-protector, he was somewhat of a jerk and not very gentle with the ladies.

We rehomed him to a family that needed the flock protection and kept his son. This son is very well mannered and respectful to everyone including the dog but still vigilant for predators. He didn't crow until he was about 18 to 20 weeks old.

It would be interesting if other folks could report on their roosters: how early they crowed and if they are prone to aggression or jerkish behavior. If there was a trend that the younger they are when they crow correlates to how aggressive they turn out, then it would help with some of the early decisions to cull. My chickens must have a good nature. I wont tolerate a jerk, no matter how handsome he is.

My main legbar roo started crowing at 11 weeks. He has nipped my calf once - not hard, but not just a passive peck. Once more and he's a goner. My backup is 17 weeks and is just now starting his first efforts. He is much more mild mannered.

I got my best mannered roo Grey at 3 months so I don't know when he started to crow...but it didn't seem like he crowed for the longest time even after I got him. The worst he has ever done was a very light peck on my boot when I was feeding his girls and not putting the food in the main bowl lol.
Graphite, the reason we built Freezer Camp, crowed at 2 weeks. You may be on to something with early crowing indicating higher testosterone! He has attacked me and the kids multiple times, even when we were feeding him! But for some reason he never goes after my husband

I think that Grey's boys all crowed by 5/6 weeks, but they have been very gentle so far (17 weeks).

Most of Roos I have had for my small flock have been aggressive! Which have only been a few but that little Jaerhon was a jerk to the hens and he and my little bantam would gang up on them at only 4 months old! The Jaer had to go and the bantam died during one of our real hot spells. I now have an OE mixed boy from Amyable that was a buddy for a Jaer pullet I got from her that didn't make it. He is still young but is working out great!

Here he is I'm planning to keep at least 1 extra CLB boy to use for OE projects as well!

I absolutely love ranch way feed. I had a hen get wry neck i did the Poly V sol and it took about 5 weeks to go away. she got it again a few weeks later. my regular feed store was out of Lay pellets so i went to another store further out. I got ranch way feed and after 3 days of eating that her wry neck went away. we were ready to give up on her right when i got that food i didn't think she would pull threw that last spell of wry neck . She has never got is since and i totally preach about ranch way being the best feed around. it looks way better and you can tell its of better quality than our local mills brand. I was doing the 20% but have since switched to the 16 that is a total feed with the scratch grains mixed right into it.

The Ranch Way 4 way sweet feed and Klassie Goat is the best stuff ive ever seen around as well for the goats food. The horse feed, all the grains and everything you can imagine is just high quality and their wild bird food is pretty amazing too. I just wont buy another feed ever again
