So, last night we candled eggs, and I'm super happy with how things are going. All the eggs I was worried about, with those air cells on the side, are looking almost normal. I'm positive it's due to dry hatching. I keep the humidity as close to 20% as possible! only adding a tiny bit of water if it gets below 20. This has helped the air cell shrink enough to give the chick a better chance at finding the correct spot to pip.
Sadly my shipped Cochin eggs aren't doing as well, we started with 15 and are down to three. I swear, if I just get a male I'll be happy. I have beautiful Cochins already, and just need the coloring of these new ones to add in. If we don't hatch any, my husband said I should try to bribe the breeder to send us chicks, because eggs coming from Cali get beat up too bad. We'll see.
