Cream Legbars

We have a completely full incubator, hatching in 9 or so days. We had so many eggs to start with, that I stacked three extra rows of eggs on top of the eggs in the turner. It worked really well, and we're hoping for a great hatch. Although, for some reason we're hatching crazy amounts of males, and I'm hoping we're done with that for the season.

Thanks! I fell instantly in love with legbars and hope to eventually contribute to this amazing breed's development here in the US. You all ROCK! I will eventually make it over to the introductions, but this thread is one of my favs of course.

I love Cream Legbars too. And I never made it over to the introduction pages either.

I have eggs going on lock down on the 3rd

Yeah...I saw the most amazing cockerel this week from a Lady that got hatching eggs from me a year ago. I know the father was my cream cockbird, but judging by the type of that bird I think his mother is was one of the hens that was in my breeding pen last spring that is now in your flock. You should have some good potential from your flock. Good luck with the hatch.

So my hatch is complete. I set 12 CL eggs, had 3 very early quitters, 9 eggs went into lockdown. Out of the 9 eggs 5 hatched, 4female and 1male. The other 4 eggs were very late quitters and died in the shell. I seem to be having this issue with only my CL eggs. All of my other eggs are hatching fine. I had a 100% hatch on my other eggs that were in with the CL eggs. With the other eggs I set 12 eggs(4 eggs each from 3 different pens) all 12 made it to lockdown and all 12 hatched.

Is anyone else noticing a lower hatch in their CLs than other breeds?

I will post pics of my 5 new chicks today.

I put 6 CCL eggs in the incubator - all 6 started developing - 2 stopped around seven days - 4 went to lock down - 1 hatched 3 days early and died in the incubator - 1 hatched day twenty lived a week died in the brooder - 1 hatched day twenty one died 3 days later. The breeder has confirmed she thinks the rooster may be the problem.

The eggs from my hens (control batch) hatched on time and healthy.........

Its definitely not my rooster, he is in a pen with other hens also and all the other hens eggs hatch perfectly. When my CL chicks do hatch they are on time and strong, none die and none are weak. I wonder if maybe its because the eggs are pullet eggs. My CL pullets only started laying bout 2 months ago.
