Cream Legbars

Hi all,
This is my first post about our little Cream Legbar flock. We have 4 pullets and one cockerel. I would really appreciate some input on them since they are our first, and hopefully a good foundation for us to start with. They are all color-coded with bands except the cockerel. Here is some information on them:

Red Band - Hatched September 13, 2014, 5-weeks in photos, wt = 12oz
Yellow Band - Hatched September 13, 2014, 5-weeks in photos, wt = 9oz (the most curious and outgoing)
Green Band - Hatched September 13, 2014, 5-weeks in photos, wt = 10oz
White Band - Hatched September 17, 2014, a little over 4 weeks in photo, wt = 4.5oz
No Band - cockerel - Hatched September 14 or 15, 2014, almost 5 weeks in photos, wt = 8.5oz

White Band & cockerel are from a different place that the other girls.

Well, I have early hatchers! Two chicks in the incubator, one male and one female. So whatever happens, I at least have a pair

Here's one of my Jill Rees girls @ 19.5 weeks. I have her and her sister (who's very gold) w/ my Line D Roo. My JR roo is w/ 4 Line D girls and 2 of those are at POL this week (19.5 weeks!). I can hardly WAIT to incuBATE!
THANKS for posting the progress.... does she have a salmon breast. It is interesting how much lacing is showing. This year from my hatches I saw more lacing than ever before -- either it wasn't there or I didn't notice it - or ---?? what -- different diet, different water, sun spots? What? The tail does show the barring - which I think is something we ought to emphasize...nie healthy pullet with good shape -- You think they will lay at 20-wks? Or wait until the magic 24?

What cute chicks...Thanks for posting their pictures... You will have a lot to select from. Does you cockerel have a crest? it looks like all the others have nice ones. IMO Cream Legbars go through so many changes...that they are like a kaleidoscope. We all need to post lots of pictures more frequently. Love the picts.

Welcome to the Cream Legbar threads!

So my female cream legbar has decided she wants to crow in the mornings. She is about 18 weeks and does it every morning before I let them out to roam. I dont have any roos but you can hear neighbors roos crow in the morning and im wondering if she is copying what she hears? Its not a full blown crow but loud. Has anyone else had their cream legbars do this?

I haven't heard of this yet with CL females. All my CL females tend to be very quiet I never hear much out of them other than the occasional egg song. With your pullet being 18 weeks she may be getting her voice and starting to practice the song in her own way.

The loudest males in my yard are by far the CL males.

The loudest females I have are my Spitzhauben, quiet noisey at times lol.

I do have loud chickens. Both my CL and her pen buddy, my Olive egger, are both very loud and are finding their voices, both about 18 weeks. 2 of my 3 older chickens, only by 2 months, are extremely loud too. Only my EE is quiet, never a loud bwak. As I type I am hearing my CL crow. She only does it in the morning before I let them out. It's so funny.
