Cream Legbars

Thanks for your advice. I do like #1. My only issue is that he has a smaller crest than all the others, but seeing that my pullets all have nice crests,he might work out. I think im convinced to keep 3 around for a while longer.

Congrats!
thanks...its pretty cool the way hatchmates are on the same timeline..
Yesterday a cream legbar laid her 1st egg
Today a polish laid her 1st

Quick question, BYC friends: is it at all possible to hatch a FEMALE Crested Cream Legbar chick that has a yellow spot on its head? I have an obvious baby roo with silvery down and an obvious dot. Then, what I assume is a second little roo. The second little roo, however, has much darker striping, no silvery down, and "eyeliner".

Just a feminine-looking little roo, or could it be female?

Its my understanding that sometimes the female can have a small head spot but is very unlikely the eyeliner and defined striping are good indicators.

I had one kind of like that turned out to be male. You should be able to tell very quickly once they feather in because feathering is also very different.

Yes, a girl can have a small spot. Maybe these will help.
This little girl has a small spot and she is very different than her brother.

This little boy is darker with a small dot for a cockerel, but it is still bigger than the girl in the pic above.

I was taking a few pictures of my youngest pullets this morning and was happy to note a few good things about them. These 2 might be on my cull/layer flock list but I am taking my time to decide.

This first pullet I just love her tail angle (it is normally, in a relaxed position, held much lower, close to the 35 degree angle) and I love that it is wide or tent shaped when viewed from behind. My other females aren't as tented that I recall.

This pullet the wind blew as I took the picture and I was able to get a better snap shot of her barred hackles. I also love her Cream colored hackles against the white snow background. Also note her tail doesn't seem as tented as her sister above.
