Cream Legbars

these we're just hatched a couple hours ago. In one incubator I hatched Barneveld hers no blues and crested cream legbars. These two are silver color and don't look like either breed. Are they crested cream legbars? If so boy or girl?? They have dot on the head and stripes. Ty.

If CLB Id say boys you do occasionally get poorly autosexed females but Female markings should definitely be clearly female. Males can run the gambit but generally have the headspot if Large (female headspots occur but are usually very small) Do not know if not that breed. The silvery color is a possible chick down for CLB especially males.

So 7 of the 8 eggs hatched under my broody hen. They starting hatching on Tuesday and finished on Thursday. She abandoned one unpipped egg which I tossed and one egg that was in the process of hatching. When I found it, it was cold but the chick was still alive. I figured she left him for a reason but my bleeding heart just couldn't throw him out so I helped him out. He was very small and very weak, nearly dead. I warmed him up in some hot towels and by that evening he was vigorous enough to stick under the heat plate with my sexlinks. He looks a little odd and although he is moving around and eating and drinking I am still not sure if he will make it. Mama definitely knew what she was doing.

Out of 7 there are just two females (of course!) but all but the little straggler look really healthy and vigorous. The hen is being an excellent mama. I gave her all of the sexlink males I just hatched and she welcomed them right into the fold. She now has a brood of 13. Super proud of her! She isn't too pleased with me being around but I did get a quick pic of her.

Just this minute hacthed a little cockerel -- doesn't show at this angle but a huge light head splotch -- and the light-colored ring directly around the eyes...he is in there chirping up a storm. Isn't spring great?

back view with splotch......

If you are someone I'm trying to send picts to via Gmail -- the Dish satellite has my service slowed down until after the 27th -- and it seems too slow to be able to load gmail -- I guess I have too many undeleted emails in there -- but since BYC handles data in a different way---I can post here. Go figure. Yay BYC -- boo Dish.

Thanks and congrats on a healthy looking boy!

A little bit of a sad day here, I rehomed my main CL male. He was a wonderful male great type and color and well behaved but just entirely too loud everyday and me being in a area with somewhat close neighbors I felt it was the right thing to do. The man I sold him to was wonderful, he breeds Welsummers and has for many years and he now is breeding Cream Legbars, he drove all the way up from Connecticut to pick him up and I also sent him with 1 dozen CL hatching eggs. It is nice to know that there is another breeder with my stock now just incase I ever need to get more birds in the future.

I Still have all my hens and pullets and my Rees trio and 20 CL chicks to grow out and evaluate.

Ah, I am sorry Chickenpickin. That is great you found him a good spot. I get so attached to them, even the males. It is hard to be a good neighbor!

Just this morning I was down at the barn, which is about a 1/4 mile from the house and about another 1/4 mile to my nearest neighbor, I could hear my dueling cockerels. My neighbor is a junk collector though so I know even if he can hear them he won't be complaining about obnoxious neighbors any time soon!
