Cream Legbars

Thank you all for your responses. These are the Jill Rees line so that's probably some of the issue. I took several pics of them as babies, but I cannot figure out who is who from them lol. I took a couple head shots of #1 a little while ago but I'm mobile right now and it's not letting me post them. I'll try again in the morning. I will definitely keep you guys updated as they grow out.

If you can do a "head count" with the younger down pictures, the females should have distinct racing stripes down the back (series of dark and light) while the males only have a single dark center stripe which often has blurry edges. It would be interesting to correlate those numbers with your original tally.

added - the yellow headed cockerel? is very unusual looking…hope we get to see some more picks over time

Here are the 18week old pullets, a few keepers and a few will be rehomed.

the long backs and great tail angle look so nice
the dark feathers are a nice punctuation at the tip of tail too
it looks like you have plenty of cream hackles!
one crest is distinctly dark with two colors, and appears to be matched up to cream hackles…no end to interesting line differences

X2 Very nice birds---

Adding to the above -- I see distinct soft barrng in the tails as called for in SOP -- your flock is really nice. Hope that you will stick with CLs.

x2 - I was sorry to hear that @chicken pickin might abandon all the good work.
I also noticed the barring, so many nice qualities.

Thanks guys for your nice words. Im not going any where yet :) I plan to keep a small amount of my best females and one male over winter. I will decide where to go after that. It just happened that I fell in love with the Plymouth Rocks(as did my family) and it is so hard to work with 2 breeds and do a good job, and not to mention all the males to raise up. So I am torn, I like them both but I do feel the pull toward the Rocks. If I had more land and less neighbors I wouldn't have to decide.

The constraints sound all too familiar =) Seems like you have a good eye for barring! Yet another reason to keep the CL's moving forward =)

I do love the barred rocks, and bantam Dominique's as well.

I am liking my females this year, I have a really nice looking little pullet, my youngest of the bunch. She is 10weeks old and is showing some good potential. I will try to get a picture of her tomorrow, as well as the 15week old cockerel that is showing ok potential. The females are showing much better qualities than my males are though. All the males had good and bad qualities and were decent males, but I think I was being to hard on them with my own critiques, which is why they all got culled.
