Cream Legbars

If you have no plans to breed CLB's I do not see a lot of difference. They both have good and bad points, but a picture without the wire would help.

GL on the uploads.

Here are the pictures. I will breed a few CL so I would like to choose the better one, but I really don't know CL standards. I am studying HRIR, and that is all I have time for right now.

If the 2 Levin seems to have the longer back otherwise there isnt much difference. If you are just breeding to keep CLB going till you can focus I would pick the better temperament

I'm in agreement - Levin looks like longer back, a bit better tail angle and straighter comb. IMO Levin is your guy. Good luck with it.

Had a girl come for a hen for 4H. I sold her one for 10, but not any of my really great ones, and I had already pared down so selection was slim. Her hen had had the tail ripped out a month before show, so I helped her out. Now, many of my older hens look pretty rough this time of year since they all free range together with the cocks, and there were only a few that had reasonable feathers for show. I did what I could, but the hen I had available was golden and heavily melanized. She is a sweet 3 year old hen, so she has put out several groups of chicks. She has a nice composition, although her crest is just a tad small, this could fix after her next molt. This sweet old lady also has mostly red earlobes, too. I've already got a plan in motion to fix this in subsequent generations. A well meaning lady told the girl that the hen was not a cream Legbar.I suppose if you get technical, she's gold, but she isn't a cross. I told her if she gets in for next season when I have new chicks available, she can find some with better color, but I feel bad that she got told that. When she was presenting the bird, I wanted to tell her how better to situate her, as she was pushing her tail up and shortening the back; this also gave her the appearance of squirrel tail. I didn't get the chance to talk to her after the show as my own little ones were impatiently waiting for the fair rides and did not want to hang at the chicken show.

For GFF they are very poorly marked. I don't like the combs much either, but for now they are the only two I have. I expected better. I don't bring in outside birds though so they are the only two this year.
So I am wondering, I'm a newbie, so please forgive but what should I be looking for in my legbar flock? I have two pullets and one cockerel and I love mine to death but really don't know what it is I should be looking at. Mine are from breeding stock imported by GFF as well. (though they didn't come directly to me from GFF) TIA

This is the best one of Lexi I can find...she's always just a blur! LOL She looks almost identical to Jazzy but her crest is a little lighter colored. I just love the crest on the girls, so far it isn't so big that it impairs their vision...just stylish!

I am just a beginner with these which is why I asked for opinions to back up what I thought. Hopefully someone who knows the new sop for CL can help you. Good luck.
