Cream Legbars

Hi All.

Looking for thoughts and opinions on my Roo. He has a floppy comb but its very thick and huge. wondering if that is a genetic issue that it flops or just that its so big. Also, thoughts on his shape and coloring? Thanks.

Echoing others crest/comb comments; also the low wings.

Regarding color - I would say he is definitely homozygous for cream (2 copies of the cream gene) and has a little extra chestnut which shows up at the top of his hackles, the wing bow, and in the saddle barring.

Thanks for posting!

I have a guy with a comb that is about as straight as I've seen with the size of his massive crest. I mean, just look at the crest! It cascades like Fabio hair down his neck! If it weren't for his sad earlobes, he'd be pretty awesome. Should I keep him anyway?

If you have room, I'd put him in the rotation and see what matches might work well together. That is a fine crest, love the barring and the length.
The comb is remarkably straight in relation to the crest, but I'm sure you'd like to see more regular points...
I think resolving the earlobes is easier than working the other direction to create a crest like that.

Good morning guys. I took some photos with my new phone this weekend so I thought I'd share...these kiddos were hatched June 3.

Hi, all.

I am trying to pick out a CLB pullet for the Minnesota state poultry show. I am finding way too many "errors" with my pullets.

I have one bathed and ready to go, but her comb is too large to make me happy.

The ones I have with good combs have barring that looks more like penciling than barring.

I had lots of good cockerels to pick from, I am very happy with my choice there.

Does anyone else notice the pullets/hens looking like penciling instead of barring?

Ideas, suggestions and help appreciated.

Its my understanding that the barring on females is often very faint and that they do have stippling patterns on feathers. Mine does. The barring if I recall is best seen in the grey area under the bottom and on the neck feathers similar to delawares. It is indistinct and often broken.

I found the proposed SOP and re-read them. I went with the less barred because of the better crest. They will not be judged as a breed anyways, I just wanted people to see them and hopefully like them. I thought the crest was a better sales tool.

The one I picked has one white feather on the wing, I am trying to figure out if I can legally pluck it.

Who would know if you plucked it?
