Cream Legbars

So my CL group is now 18 weeks old. I’m a little worried about my cockerel. Is it normal to have such a huge and floppy comb? I didn’t think they got so large! He shakes his head a lot, like he is trying to get it out of his way.
I’m also working on new nest boxes for the girls. Should I expect eggs this year?
Cockerel pics, and the pullet pic just because I love it, and a funny group shot. :)

They are a nice looking group! Most of my boys had big Combs but they didn't flop completely over. Your boy has really nice coloring! The girls are getting nice and pink in the face. You just might get eggs this year!

He comes from good stock. :D
I really like how his coloring is developing. I’m hoping he grows into the comb a bit. Do you lose any combs to frostbite?

The boys always lost the points off their Combs every year, no matter what I did. It didn't seem to bother them though.

I always have a few seramas lose them, and my OEGB guys, but oddly the bantam cochins rarely lose them. This will be my first winter with BCMs and the CLs. My BCMs comb is huge too.

I am in a much milder climate, but I kept a dozen Legbar cockerels last winter. In the spring I evaluated all the cockerels and took photos of all their combs. I had two Marans, a Plymouth rock, and about a dozen Legbar cockerels. I don't remember the details but don't think the Marans or Plymouth Rocks lost points. I know that at least one (or was it two) of the Cream Legbars lost pretty muck all of his points right down to the bottom of the serration. Most of the cockerels (including the Marans and Plymouth rock) had the very tippy top of their combs frost bite, and lost the top 1/4" of one or more points, but few lost more than that and some didn't loose points at all. The comb type that I had been warned indicated poor vigor where the ones that lost their points (i.e. thin serrations, points curving backwards, etc.). Those that had good combs didn't loose points (ie. wide points). So I am going to work towards the correct comb types which should reduce lost points on combs.

I was just going through this bc I think leg bars are gorgeous. I saw you leg bars and they are so pretty with their floppy combs. I was wondering if you would want to enter them in my single combed contest? Any one else can too but these are the first ones I saw

Just checked out the contest. I’ll be sure to add some pics. Thanks!
