I think I'm on the right track, I'm starting to get the wild type pattern in my chicks color. See the eye stripe, and head pattern?

Here you can see very faint, but faint light grey chipmunk stripes.

I don't see any stripes on that chick. Where do you have wild type? You have stated that you're using buff orpington and barred rock crosses.

It's visible, just very faint, it comes from the wheaten genetics.
