Why'd she die?Would've been, she dyed at 3 and a half weeks. Hatched me a new one.
It was a freak incident. The basement got to hot, and silkies ended up filling the waterer up with wood chips, so she couldn't get a drink to cool down, and hydrate. We keep our chickens at our grandpa's place cause we don't have much room at ours. Wish I could've done something, but we had to leave, it happened when we were gone. Why'd she die?
Haha, I too did this last year with our chickens. Here's a really good lookin' rooster who's a mix of Road Island Red, Ameraucana and and Barred Rock and uh oh, not sure I remember anymore. You'd never know Barred Rock was in there but it is nor would you know Road Islands in there but it is as well - he does make the Rd. Island Red weird eerie sound from the throat that they do though. A lot of the others I hatched show the various signs of all breeds and that was fun and really neat to do. Got some beautiful girls out of this too. Here's a previous chick from my last thread, I decided to leave. The chick dyed, which made me sad.View attachment 1709552 View attachment 1709553 View attachment 1709554 View attachment 1709555 View attachment 1709556
Genetics for this chick: Buff Orpington/Barred Rock crossed with Buff Orpington/Australorp.
It was an attempt at regular crele with different chickens

[the Orpington/Australorp one] Oh, here's my rooster I mentioned as a young guy and then grown up. He had a twin brother but lost him to a cow injury, sadly View attachment 1726310
Sorry, got the pics backwards
Twin brother as hatched from the same egg? Or just hatching brothers(hatching from the same clutch but different eggs)Oh, here's my rooster I mentioned as a young guy and then grown up. He had a twin brother but lost him to a cow injury, sadly
even if crossbred it's to be expected that at least two siblings may look the same, but genetic twins are very rare indeedOr maybe a hatch mate that looked the same?
That's my guess.
