Creating Experimental Black Crele Chickens (Different Genetics, new variety)

And the whole bird would be white.
Ya I read it as recessive white meaning not dominate white not necessarily one copy of recessive white.
That's the part that caught my eye. Recessive white makes the whole bird white. Can't just put recessive white in different places on a bird and leave color in others.

The guy I got these fowl from only had this type of fowl, no other types to cross with. So they're purebred. He ended up with an explosion of chicks, so he was giving them away for free.

All silkies have recessive white in their genetics, it can appear as leakage in any colored variety.
Uh, what? Recessive white does not "leak" into certain parts of a colored bird. If a bird has 2 copies of recessive white then it is white. If is has just one then it remains hidden.

As for silkies, if they all carry recessive white then 25% of the offspring from every breeding would be solid white, regardless of the parents' varieties. I doubt that is the case.
