Credit card debt?

the worst thing is your credit score go's up every CC account you open, and down when you close one, when did that change? When I was in high school it was the other way around

I hate to admit it but yes and yes. No excuses other than we have had a lot of travel and expenses lately with my mother's death in November. They will get paid off though because I hate debt.

1) NO
2) yes, 3 payments and home paid for. If I want something and don't have the money, what money I have goes in a jar until I can pay cash. I really need to check both mine and DH's credit reports, His Id was stolen last year and it has been a PROBLEM-------.But like I told him, at 72 why do I care what my credit score is. My car runs, My home is almost paid for and I have him. what else do I need.

Just being debt free is not all there is to being financially responsible. You have to ether have a savings account that you invest in heavily or work to build credit history without building debt. The system is not broken. If you never show them that you are a person of your word by paying back loans then why would you think they would just take your word for it that you will. Age an income have nothing to do with weather you will pay them back. But proving you will by actions does.

The system most definitely is broken, if you've been responsible, paid things off on time, and do not have tons of lines of credit open you're considered a risk - that is absolutely ridiculous. The whole system is constructed to promote the use of credit rather than promote responsible money management.

I have a Disney Visa Credit Card

I pay it off every month

It earns disney dollars that we have used to go to Disney World. It paid for all our snacks and meals in the parks and for a few souvenirs.
This fall we may have enough to get a free trip.
(just a long weekend)

Yes, and right now it has $1566 on it!! Mostly medical expenes...baby is five weeks old. We usually do not carry a balance. DH lost his good paying job last August and had to take a major paycut just to have a job. Otherwise we would not have even put the medical bills on it. We plan on paying it off with our income tax return....along with all of the rest of the medical bills.
