Welcome to Backyard Chickens!

I hope it all works out for you

X2...though we dud have the added steps of an inspection by the officer (who had never inspected a chicken setup and mostly depended on me to assure him all was good, lol, and snapped photos/ took measurements) ....his report went with my application for a vote by the city council.
Thank you, I called The City of Santa Clara,(ca.) the lady tried to be helpful, but didn't know the answers (she admitted)for what I needed, so she just said, "just come in and fill out the form." It's $6.00 a chicken for a permit, that's all I have so far. .. Thank you, your info was helpful. This sounds like a small journey...

My permit attempt was horrendous! I had all of my surrounding neighbors sign a petition saying that they don’t oppose me having chickens, created 7 binders that included plot maps of my home, what breeds of chickens I want, where I’ll be keeping the coop, dimensions of the coop, etc. I paid $200 to “apply” for the permit and sat before the Board of Trustees to present my case. After ALL of the busy work and after all of my neighbors attended the meeting and spoke in my favor, the township STILL denied me.

I hope you have much better luck than I did lol! But I figured as long as I don’t have complaints, I’ll be okay without the darn permit
I understand,I probably do the same thing!! :jumpy

:welcome:celebrate

Glad you're here !

A must have for your poultry is a FIRST AID KIT for any issues that would arise. (https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/suggestions-for-a-first-aid-kit.1150128/)
It's definitely better to have it and not need it rather than need it and not have it.

Also, make sure your coop(s) have a proper amount of VENTILATION. (https://www.backyardchickens.com/ar...-there-and-cut-more-holes-in-your-coop.47774/) Your chickens will absolutely thank you for it!

One last thing, if you're into gardening, feel free to join this years SEED SWAP (https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/seed-swap.1220129/)
