I previously posted about this pullet I bought from Meyers because it is supposed to be olive egger and it wasn't looking that way to me. It is mostly black with a little brown speckles. Someone pointed out that it could be BCM mix to make it an olive egger. Well now it has developed a floof on the tip of its head. Breed ideas? I'm not familiar with crested chickens

Could be a Cream Legbar hen and Welsummer rooster Olive Egger.

It could be Cream Leghorn hen and a Welsummer rooster. The Cream Leghorn has the tufted feathers on top of the head. I attached pics of my Olive Eggers so you may compare them to your Olive Egger.

She looks very much like some chicks I just hatched from my AlchemistFarms Olive Egger! ZsaZsa has that adorable tuft and partridge feathering. I would guess that she herself is from a Crested Cream Legbar crossed with a Welsummer. Then I crossed her with my young Alchemist Farms Heritage Black Copper Marans roo. Her eggs are to die for, already a very deep olive with chocolate splotches! I hope some of her daughters lays such delights! Though +/-half of them would lay chocolate. Problem is, I've only seen but one at that gorgeous mature stage! She has been incessantly broody 3 times already (just over a year old now) and I've let her raise 2 broods in her first year. That egg was the last one right before she dove back in.

Alchemist Farms is near Sebastopol CA and ships chicks nationwide. They specialize in egg colors but only sell 3 of their breeds sexed. I picked up my chicks, since I live nearby.

(The chicks Cheryli showed above do look like ZsaZsa looked at that age, just not her own babies with BCM Nico, which look like yours.) What do your Olive Egger's eggs look like? speckles? color?
