I got mine from Privett hatchery. www.privetthatchery.com/Home/prdDetails.aspx?id=CS

ive read how they are small for their standard. i was thinking about making a new color or introducing a larger bird in to get their size up to standard. Who knows privett has done really good on other birds ive gotten for a hatchery so heres to hoping they are up to size. I was also thinking of a new color to get interest back into the breed. But if the comb was the only thing i was worried about getting back to.

Privett Hatchery is in New Mexico I believe. The feed store I frequent orders most of his chicks through Privett and they always look good to me. However I checked Privett's website and they do not list Crevecoeurs in 2014. Cibola Chooks - did you go directly to Privett to pickup your Crevie chicks?

Hi, thank you :) It's so hard to take pictures of a moving target! LOL Poor boy has such a diaper butt too :( He's such a love though!

Yes, diaper butt can take its toll on the feathers. My poor Silkie was sparsely feathered on her diaper rump by the 3rd month but to look at her foraging butt now with all her fluffiness you'd never know she was a diaper baby!

Poularde-page 1, post 15- section of SOP for Crevs. Dull black, not white skin. Beak should also go to "horn" color towards the tip. Wattle should barely be visible. I've got some crevecoeurs that I hope will breed well so that I can introduce them to folks in my area. I start saying the name and people turn to my dh to say "Is she speaking a foreign language?!"

Someone thought I was swearing when I said "Empordanesa" and "Penedesenca" in the same sentence!

Have been getting a little confused about egg color on Creve's. Are they white or off-white? I already have an off-white/cream egg-layer and am looking for a "white" layer. The Creve's were starting to sound so wonderful to me until I read a couple posts that said their eggs were off-white? I thought the Breda were a white layer too until many posts said they could be off-white or cream as well.

My soon-to-be parent stock crevs came from Welp hatchery. For the 2 years or so that I made my wishlists and compared all of the hatcheries for breeds and prices I finally came to the conclusion that Welp was the best choice for me. Out of 5 crev chicks winter took 2. I now have a standard cockerel and a standard pullet as well as a tiny little pullet. From the beginning it was the smallest chick, same size as the mille fleur bearded duccle and silver sebright chicks. Since the others have "grown" (and this one has too but not by much) this one is bantam size. Oops! I think I got a bantam crev by mistake:)

As far as having crevs in with others- my crevs were in a grow out coop with buff laced polish and mottled houdans as for crested breeds but also had buff orpington, white leghorn and russianthe orloff heavy breeds as friends in there. All were together up to 22 weeks old. When the large(r) fowl cockerels started their hormonal juvenile stuff I noticed the crested breeds would just get out of the way. Most of the time if I was in the coop at the time the crested pullets would actually hide around my legs at the first sound of trouble from the boys;-) I think they were relieved when the breeds got separated so as chicks, it's okay. As juveniles/adults, okay if they have plenty of room and yours get along good.

Privett has Crevecoers
You have to look under the CRESTED BREEDS
I looked today. It will not up up on their search engine
Hope that helps
