***Crevecoeur Thread***

Pics
I never candle until at least one week--but normally around day 9.

It sound like the air cells that detached. That is an indication of rough handling during shipping.

I wish you were closer--I have 11 out of 12 Creve eggs developing in my bator now (I candled last night) and I am only keeping a few chicks from this hatch.

Thanks,

~Heather

At 3 days old, not all of them will probably have veining yet, I don't think. I would wait awhile to chuck any eggs

Not chucking any yet. Hoping against hope. If one of them wasn't looking so perfect w/ veining, I wouldn't think so much of it, but comparing it to the others, it's very sad.

Well, if you don't get any to hatch, or at least not many, you can go to the first page of this thread. There is a list of breeders, including BBB and RFF! There's quite a chance they'll have extras.

I only see these breeders:
Boggy Bottom Bantams- Very tame birds- Bearded Crevecoeur Bantams (One of the only breeders!) Available

Rare Feathers Farm- Birds that are a joy to be around- Standard, SQ Crevecoeur Many egg auctions up!!!

Exop- Large Fowl SQ Crevecoeur- Indiana- In spring eggs and started birds available!!!

These eggs came from Rare Feathers. Boggy Bottom sells bantams only (I want LF). Exop sold all of his birds I thought - so they could focus on other breeds.

Am I missing someone?

if you are a pro at it, yes you can candle at day 3, there should be a very faint embryo starting by then, by day 4 anyone can tell with a good light in a dark room.

day 7, it's fool proof.

also yes, if you see tiny air bubbles floating around in there, they are distroyed, shipping air cell rupture, #1 cause of so called infertile eggs in shipping, they just got damaged internally is all. If the cell is just loose and moves around a bit as you roll the eggs, those will still hatch, though not as well as tight celled eggs.

Definately keep them going, never toss one til day 7, unless you are like me and have done it for so long, I wait til day 4 to make a final call still though.
Good luck with them.

Oh, the breeders list is tiny just because only a very small select handful of us have them. I belive Jim Parker has his back now too, but think they are all bantam too, that's where mine originated from. You can try the Polish Breeders Club webiste, they cover houdans and creveies too, and you may be able to fing LF breeders on there if you are lucky

No, that must be someone else you're thinking of... I'm not quite infamous enough myself to be at the center of any rumors
