So true. That is called socialism, and that is not what this country is about. We have always had hardships to endure as Americans. We have always turned to family and friends. To expect the government to make your life better for you in any way besides national defense is unrealistic and wrong. And, frankly, it's selfish to make everyone give up their freedom just so you don't get a large bill in the mail from some doctor. I'm sorry if you get those bills, I truly am, because I've gotten them and I know the dread and worrying. But large bills sometimes happen, divorce sometimes happens, death sometimes happens, and pure joy sometimes happens. If we want to live in a world where there are no lows, no hardships, then we will live in a world where there are no highs, no triumphs.
Anyone who trusts the government either doesn't know their history, or they choose to ignore it because they stand to gain something. But the more you gain in little perks, the more you lose.

So far I haven't heard any mention of free health care. This coverage will not be free. It will be reasonably priced. What is wrong with reasonably priced? Of course they could effect the same change by better regulating the insurance industry. Then the same people saying the only thing the gov should do is send kids off to die defending our country will say no regulation, bad, bad. Instead health insurance companies should be allowed to make ridiculous profits on your health. Self employed should do without health care. People should do a little reading. Get some facts instead of just reading op ed pieces by right wingers.
Alas it doesn't really matter. Health care is going to become a part of our life . It is badly needed. There are a lot of people that don't have the money to pay for health insurance in it's current form. It needs to be made affordable for everyone. Hate to ask this but WWJD? The JC I learned about would have been appalled to know that it was possible for everybody to get health care, but those that had it were to selfish to let others have it. JMO folks.

Well, so far, complete strangers have told me I'm uneducated, right-wing, gullible, and biased. But none of those very same people has acknowledged the very basic point that this health care bill is unconstitutional. Not one of you have explained to me why it is more important that we do this than to abide by the law of the land, the constitution. It is one of three things:
1. You have an agenda and the constitution gets in your way,
or
2. You haven't read the constitution and don't understand how this country is supposed to work,
or
3. You don't care.
"The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people." - Article 5 of The Bill of Rights, as provided in the First Ten Amendments to the Constitution of the United States

yeah but our elected representatives wont listen to us cause they say they know whats best for us...
when they decided to do the first bailout everyone called and email thier elected representatives and what did the elected representatives do well they did what they thought was best for us instead of listing to us...

So those of you ranting about the "deadbeats", let me get this clear, do you believe that medical care is a product and if you cannot afford it, you should not have access?
I have a problem with the folks that will deny routine care due to costs, but "of course" would never deny emergency care. How do you think these poor people end up in the ER? They put off seeking help until the last minute, their last minute.
I see the healthcare situation in terms of there being five people. Two are swilling champagne & eating cake (Think, unnecessary MRIs and end of life heroics): Expensive & not good for them. Two are eating well: Good for them. One is starving: No food, gonna die. Please do not tell me that weaning the first two off the champagne & cake in order to feed the starving one is UnAmerican. He took the job with insurance. If another guy chooses the job with higher pay and no insurance why should he have a right to demand that everybody else be taxed more to support him.
When I talk about dead beats, I'm not talking about somebody that worked and paid their whole life and was stricken with some expensive to treat disease. I'm talking about the dead weight that can't prioritize and expects the government to take care of them.
It's pretty arrogant to think that working class people that have paid into the system all of their lives are sitting around eating cake and swilling champagne just because they complain about people that won't work and won't give up luxuries like cell phones, cable tv and internet service for the sake of their own healthcare. Like I said before, I don't think anybody minds helping the person that worked and paid in all of their lives. But the whole nanny state thing is becoming too oppressive and costly because of the dead weight. Yes, if the dead weight would go away or reform itself, we could afford to help the guy that worked hard and needed a hand.
At my house there is no cake or champagne. It all got taken away in taxes to support the dead weight.
