Crippled chicken

I will take a picture tomorrow. She pretty much walks on her "elbows" or "knees". Her feet do not hold her up and she has been crippled since a day or two after Easter. Picture tomorrow.

Here is a picture from a few months ago.

Okay. My guinea Dawn walks on his knees too. I think it is slipped hock joint or something. I heard that physical therapy by swimming is good. i tried that once for Dawn but we had to hold onto him as although he did float, his head kept going under :)

Good luck! Sorry I don't really know that much about caring for crippled chickens but we're both learning:)

Mine just started to do that!! My favorite hen. I'm worried. I may take to vet. She walks on hocks. Sometimes her feet stay in the air and shake. I brought her indoors and put her in my bathtub and shower and both places she walks backwards on her hocks until she touches the wall and just sits. Something's up ugh. My rooster just does Monday. I hope she doesn't have whatever he did.

I hope your hen is ok. Did you say your rooster died on Monday? Sorry for your loss. :( (I'm a bit confused). But if she just started doing that I would suggest going to the vet as they may be able to fix her legs. They can also check if she has any illness from the rooster. The walking backwards thing is worrying. My guinea Dawn never did that. Good luck with her though, I hope this is helpful.

I took her and he prescribed her Albon. He gave her a poor prognosis. Fecal test came back negative. She all of the sudden had a crooked neck and he's wondering if someone intentionally poisoned my animals or if there's something somewhere that's toxic in the yard. What's strange is my sisters dog who I was homing while she was having her house built had to be put down right before Christmas. She was walking dizzy and she was almost 14 and we thought old age, a stroke or something but I wonder... Did my rooster bother neighbors? He really only crowed for a very short period throughout the day. Now I'm thinking maybe I should just stick with hens just in case? I don't know!! I wish we knew the real reason. So we'll see... He doesn't expect to see her next week and I'm hoping to prove him wrong. Freckles is the paint silkie in my avatar.
