Crochet along Doily Join us

Your right. those are in public domain. I like all of them. I really love the wreath doily. Christmas is a coming. The sites listed in the first post are all in public domain. These sites have been around for a long time. Mine was started in 2005. I closed the first one and went into quilting. I started up the one I have now a year ago or so. Same patterns as the first site. The only designer I know of that copyrights her vintage patterns is Elizabeth Hiddleson and I think it's either her daughter or niece that keeps the copyright going. She has designed some lovely patterns. A lot of new designers I respect as well. All of the patterns are good. I will do what you all want to do. I have no preference. I would not make a swan doily because it's time consuming. Takes a lot of thread/crochet cotton.

That site is publishing a lot of copyrighted patterns. I am not sure I want to go that way. I would not feel right about it. I have a lot of magic crochet magazines and they are still under copyright protection. It would be bad for this board as well. Please stick to the guidelines below. Vintage meaning before 1977.

Please use this for your guideline:
Works created 1978 or later -
After 1978 - A work is copyright protected from the moment it is created, whether a copyright notice appears on it or not. Most people place copyright notices on their works, as there are advantages to doing so. But don't assume that a work is in the public domain if there is no notice on it. Research carefully.
After 1978 - A work is in the public domain only if the creator places a notice on it that he/she is placing it in the public domain. If this notice isn't there, then assume that the work is under copyright protection.
On works created after January 1, 1978, copyright protection lasts for author's/designer's lifetime plus an additional 70 years after author's/designer's death.

I didn't know anything about copyright for patterns

I'm headed to the craft store tonight (need seashells to embed in clear blue tinted soap for a 4-H thing, we have a table at a fair type thing.) so I'll pick up some green, white, and red thread today as well, or at least white/green. I'm good with anything really, I love them all. :)

Got white and green crochet thread. I figure I can do white flowers with green leaves, or I can pretty much do anything with white/green and add red or colored beads if necessary.

I will probably have to shop online for my thread, since it is to close to Christmas for me to go to Hobby Lobby.

Have you tried herrschners:

I usually buy there and find a coupon code. I do a google search before I even shop there.

Not sure how they stack up to the other stores. I do buy at joann sometimes with a 50% coupon and buy the jumbo crochet cotton spool. One thing to keep in mind. The pattern we pick will most likely call for materials that is not made anymore. I just use size 10 crochet cotton. You can use size 20. It's a smaller thread. I don't think they make many colors in size 20. Not real sure of that seeing that I have not bought much crochet cotton in the last 7 years.
