I think there must be a million different patterns, lol!! Surprised me too!! Just whichever one you do, make all 20 of them the same way..you can make them different colors, just same style
So are we all running our patterns by you before we do them to make sure that two people aren't doing the same thing? If lots of us are pulling off that web site, and they have some really neat ones, then some of us might wind up doing the same patterns. Does that matter?
And what if more than twenty people want to do it? Will we need to make more than 20?
Sorry to be removing your name Crone!!! jeaucamom I don't really want to stifle anyone's creativity even if it means duplicates...too many rules make people drop out of fun things, we'll just deal with the doubles if they happen, lol! Besides, if you only have 20 squares for an afghan, you will need to border them to make them larger anyway, or join them and border the whole thing...so they will morph into something alittle different looking anyway in the end. Everyone should still be able to get back the number they put in, I'll just make sure they are sorted well. If anyone wants to do extra, that will be great and will just boost the number we get back, no problem. I think it will really be a fun project!! Picked my yarn out from my stash tonight and found my square pattern earlier, so I'll get started tomorrow on mine. Looking forward to it!!!
Just thought I would say good moring to everyone commited to this effort and continue to invite everyone sitting on the fence to come on ever!! This is really easy folks and fun!!
I saw a few patterns on the crochetpatterncentral that I wouldn't really classify as the traditional granny square pattern. In any case it would still turn out to be a 6x6 square is that ok?
Also, when we send our squares to you should we put a piece of paper w/ our names on them so whoever they go to will know who made them? Besides individual names maybe we should also put our BYC names on them as well. I believe you may have already posted the answer to this question in the list of general rules for this swap.
Yes and yes Kim! You can use any pattern you want, I was surprised at how many there are, in fact I have a book with 200 styles, unbelievable!! Yeah, just as long as they are 6" x 6" go crazy girl!! I think Chicknthief mentioned that it would be a good idea to put a tag on the squares, not sure yet how that will work because that will be one tag and I will have to sort them for 20 people so that could mean a bunch of tags. We might can figure a way to make a page of thumbnail photos of the squares with the makers name beside the thumbnail pic...just brainstorming, haven't got the identifying figured out yet, lol!! I can leve them in your envelopes until I get them all so at least they will start out being organized..it's at that point that I get lost, loL!! We'll figure it out I'm sure. so, again, short answer to your questions, yes, make any pattern you want, 6x6, any colors but all the same pattern. We'll worry about identifying them later, lol!
And chickenranchwife...welcome aboard, really happy to have you and you can feel free to pick whichever type granny square you want to make...all 6x6, all of the same pattern but colors are up to you.
This is getting very exciting!!!!!
If anyone knows of better instructional video sites, please post them, there are a couple crochet newbies that I am pleading with to join us and they need just alittle more instruction!! Thanks ya'll!!!!
