Hey jc, as I have done a little cake decorating myself, I will say that is just adorable!!!!
You asked for suggestions????

I'd whip the icing more on the body, put some rings on the legs, kinda like big bird, and run a star border (in matching color) around the entire cake.
Also, I'd outline where the different colors meet.

Did I give too many suggestions????

I put a star border already. It really improves it. The rings on the legs are a good idea. I got crumbs in the icing despite the fact I froze the pieces and the rings might help that a bit. I was wondering how to make it look 'feathery' and I guess whipping it up will help. Thanks for the suggestions.

JC that cake is adorable!!! Ya'll don't worry too much about the size being a bit off, with a border they will fit just fine. Here are my squares, I have 48 so far....

Yay!! I'm feeling much better today, totally the opposite of yesterday. I did manage to get another 3 squares made tonight, so I am at 21. I got a really good deal on some yarn at Zellers this evening, so I have some more variety of colors to add. Now my 12 yr old daughter wants me to teach her how to make a granny square so she can help make some for me....I don't know, I tried to teach her to knit and that didn't go so well.

Maybe I'll have some more patience this time around...haha

Must be the day for cakes!!

My little girl turned 5 on the 26th and we are having her party tomorrow. She wanted to have a teapot cake, so here it is:

It's smal, but she wanted cookie sandwiches, too, so it'll all work out, LOL.

Gorgeous squares, everyone!! No hooking for me this weekend, my husband is off and it's time to till the garden.

Mangled, that teapot cake is so sweet!! I wish I had that talent!! Apparently I didn't inherit it from my mom who used to make us awesome cakes for our birthdays.

My daughter who will be 5 would absolutley love that cake for her birthday I may have to borrow that from you!!!
