Crocheters Thread

I realize I probably need to block this after I finish connecting. I have never blocked anything beofre. I do have a steamer, and my yarn is acrylic. Is that what I should use or is it better to fully wet it and let it dry the traditional way?

I haven’t blocked anything before either, but when I learned to knit and do Tunisian crochet, I learned how to block because those things need it more often.

I just did a quick search, and it looks like the reason to block a granny square blanket would be to make the edges of the squares more uniform before you put them together. Then attaching them is easier. And people were saying steam, cold water and dry will all work with acrylic.

They also said to make it easier, block lots of squares in a stack at the same time, instead of doing each one individually. They said they use long metal meat skewers.

Oops, looks like I connected some too early. Maybe I'll do the rest of the squares and then block the entire blanket once done.

I’ve done granny square projects without blocking the squares first and it was alright in the end. I only block garments to get the fit right.

All the horizontal rows are now done! I spent like the past 2 hours on 3 rows so it'll probably take much longer than expected, but we're still cruisin'.
